A busy Seattle-area family, who work in tech at Nordstrom, was expecting their first baby and wanted a nursery with serious style (think “Nordstrom Baby!”) Christen Joy curated the nursery remotely via Facetime using detailed room layouts and project plans to ensure the best layout for the furniture in the space. In discussion, the couple shared that owls held special meaning to them and their only purchase for the nursery so far was a crisp black rocking chair. These details sparked ideas for the perfect nursery design! Setting the stage, a whimsical and artistic wallpaper was selected featuring birds to fit the theme and to highlight the black color of the chair. To soften the space, rose petal pink and blush colors were used in many selections from the large rug, curtains, storage bins and the bedding. Brass and acrylic accents added chic style which was also echoed in the round light fixture and round mirror. Finally, storage for mom and dad, a dangling mobile and shelving ready to showcase their kiddo’s first works of art. The finishing touch? Two brass, owl tie-back that one has to pause and appreciate.
